Alaskan Bears Hit Pay Dirt After Breaking Into Krispy Kreme Truck

Untold thousands of calories were consumed by a pair opportunistic black bears up who raided a Krispy Kreme doughnut van while it was on delivery run to a convenience store located on military base in Alaska.

NBC reports the delivery driver left the rear doors open and the ramp down as he stepped away for a moment. The sow and one of her cubs saw their chance and took it. Attempts to scare the bears away by banging on the side of the truck were ineffective as the munched away on donut holes and various pastries.

“You could hear them breaking open the packages. We were trying to beat on the van but they just kept eating all the doughnuts. They ate 20 packages of the doughnut holes and I believe six packages of the three-pack chocolate doughnuts.” –Shelly Deano

Base security was alerted to the situation and they sounded sirens to scare away the bears. The bears eventually exited the vehicle and sauntered back into the woods with their bellies full of tasty treats.
