To be crystal clear, this chairlift rollback of Winter Park’s Eskimo chairlift was done intentionally and no one was injured in the process. Back in 1990, crews at Winter Park loaded the chairs with concrete blocks to simulate the weight of the lift being packed with skiers and initiated the rollback with cameras poised to capture the destruction (the chairlift was schedule for replacement at the time) . While watching this video may be unnerving for those of us who spend our free days riding resorts, the catastrophic failure was triggered for educational purposes to avoid similar situations in real life. With that said watching this still give me the heebie jeebies:
