Skiing The Nearly Impossible Shoestring Gully In New Hampshire

Ryan Delena has become one of the best technical skiers on the East Coast. One of his skiing goals is to conquer every line in the Presidential Skiing guidebook. He’s taken on some tricky lines, including the harrowing Damnation Gully in Huntington Ravine.

In Ryan’s most recent video, which is down below, he takes on Shoestring Gully. Located in the Presidential Range of the White Mountains, Shoestring Gully is narrow, icy, and very steep. The Gully is typically only done as a route for ice climbers, but when it snowed as much as it did this past spring, it becomes (barely) skiable. In what Ryan describes as a hairball of a line, he asks himself: “Is this even skiing?”
