Many New Zealand ski resorts got snow this week, creating major stoke for the upcoming season. This led to one ski field, Manganui Ski Area in Stratford spinning its lifts for the first time this season on Friday.
The ski field, which is run by the Stratford Mountain Club, currently has the T-bar, Learners Tow, and Canteen lifts open. An interesting part of the experience at Manganui is that getting there requires a 20-minute walk to reach the lifts from the parking lot. There’s a lift to get your gear up to the base area, called the Flying Fox, which is also currently operating.
Here’s hoping that New Zealand continues to get snow and that more ski fields and resorts can open up soon.
