While some ski resorts in Europe have shut down for the season, others are just getting the party started. FONNA Glacier Ski Resort in Norway opened on Saturday for the 2023 season. Located in Western Norway, it’s regarded as one of the most popular lift-serviced glaciers on the continent. Most of the trails are already open, but the terrain park has yet to be constructed. The park is expected to open in the middle of June.
The glacier is located in the district of Hardanger and is a twenty-five-minute drive outside of the town center of Jondal. It’s located around 2 hours and thirty minutes from Bergen, and six hours and thirty minutes from Norway’s capital: Oslo. To get to the glacier, you have to go through a toll road. Some of the amenities at the ski resort include cross-country ski trails, rentals, and a lodge with a sit-down restaurant.
The lift is open daily from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The glacier usually keeps its lift open until September.
