Saddleback wrapped up its ski season on April 16th, but it still hosts one major event the week after the lift close: The King of the Mountain Snowmobile Hill Climb. The riders were ready to go, which included Donny Pelletier, and then a wild moose appeared.
In the video above, the moose went footloose on around the course, delaying the start of the competition. Here is what Molly Shaw, who is a part of the marketing team at Saddleback, told us about the situation:
“Have you ever heard of a mountain going on moose hold? On Saturday, April 22nd, a moose on the course delayed the start of Saddleback’s annual King of the Mountain snowmobile hill climb race. The moose on the loose delayed the start of the race by almost an hour. She first wandered into the base area by the main entrance sign and then meandered up onto the slope below the new Sandy Quad. She was eventually encouraged to move along by a Maine game warden. No moose or people were harmed during this incident. Things you only see in Rangeley, Maine!”
