A former Olympics skier was found dead inside a jail cell in Cedar City, Utah yesterday.
FOX13 reports 52-year-old Jeremy Nobis was found alone and unresponsive inside his cell at the Iron Correctional Facility. No foul play is suspected in Nobis’ death but the incident is under investigation.
After serving time for a DUI case, an arrest warrant was issued for Nobis after failing to appear in court via videoconference in 2021. He was taken into custody and imprisoned in February.
Nobis competed for the US at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer where he finished 9th overall in the giant slalom event. After his racing career, Jeremy went on to film freeskiing segments with TGR and Warren Miller. He had his own Dynastar ski named for him and is credited with helping design early freeski specific equipment.
Our condolences go out to Jeremey’s family and friends.
