In just a few short months, Aspen Skiing Co. CEO and President Mike Kaplan is set to retire after 30 years with the company and 17 years at the helm. Though his retirement was announced nearly a year ago, the company is yet to reveal his successor, and if this short video released to the resort’s Vimeo says anything, they may still be struggling to find one.
Personally, I would love to see how things would change if Norm from the tune shop took over as CEO. Alex Ferreira would be an interesting leader as well, but his relationship to Hot Dog Hans should probably exclude him from such a job…
Maybe Aspen’s best choice is to look outside of the company…
While I’m sure most of our readers would be stoked to find out that a tune shop employee was hired for the CEO position, there’s a chance it could compromise the mountain’s “family-friendly” attitude (I’m not saying anything specific about the people featured in this video, I’m just saying that, based on my own experience, tune shop employees aren’t usually the first to denounce stuff liked bare-butt skiing).
