Avoriaz, Courchevel & St Anton are some of the big names opening this weekend. More terrain is on offer elsewhere. NEW
Well over 50 ski resorts will be open in the Alps by the weekend.
Some of the major ones in France start: Avoriaz, Les2Alpes, Val d’Isere and Courchevel.
In Austria Saalbach, the Ski Welt and St Anton are amoung those resorts getting things underway.

In Italy more slopes open in the Cervinia ski area with Valtournoche opening for business.
Many other resorts that are already open are firing up more lifts and offering more runs open.
Engleberg in Switzerland is one.
Conditions are not perfect for the beginning of December, but they are better than many hoped for a couple of weeks ago.
At altitude things are now looking quite respectable.

PlanetSKI is currently in Soelden in the Tirol in Austria enjoying some great conditions.

While in Andorra the Grand Valira ski area is opening.
In Scandinavia more resorts are opening in Norway with Kvitfjell opening more terrain.
And lets not forget North America where the early season conditions are some of the best in recent memory.
Jackson Hole is starting its tram and some other lifts this weekend.

“We are elated to open the Aerial Tram and upper mountain on Decembed 3rd. The snowfall we have received thus far this season is providing some of the best early-season conditions we have seen in decades,” stated the resort President, Mary Kate Buckley.
