WATCH: A Touring Guide To A Lost Washington Ski Area

Here’s a cool video from Dr. Telemark’s Backcountry Northwest which shows a tour of a lost Washington ski area located east of Stevens Pass. Yodelin first opened in 1969, and it featured a double chairlift, rope tow, and a large day lodge. In 1971, a large avalanche hit the ski area, killing four people and leading to its demise. Its last year of operations was at some point in the 1970s.

The video, which is down below, features powder skiing, a thorough map of the various uphill and downhill routes, and most importantly: Oliver the Powder Hound. If you do make the trip, here’s a friendly reminder to bring avalanche gear, research the snow conditions, and ride with a buddy.
