The following video is from a webcam set up to monitor South Africa’s Jeffreys Bay aka J-Bay. It shows what appears to be a great white shark breaching while pro surfers practice prior to the WSL J-Bay Open event. This wouldn’t be the first time a great white has made an appearance at the J-Bay Open. Back in 2015 Mick Fanning actually fought off a shark during the final heat. There were no further reports of shark incidents at this year’s event but with the history of encounters and this possible sighting, I’m thinking competitors had their heads on a swivel.
