Skier Rescued From Avalanche in Ushuaia, Argentina

A woman injured by an avalanche in Ushuaia, Argentina was successfully extracted by rescuers after a 7-hour operation in the middle of a driving snowstorm. Reuters reports Civil Defence authorities received an emergency call to say a woman had been lost in an avalanche in the Cerro Godoy gutter.

Members of the Aid Commission gathered members from different institutions and launched the rescue effort.  After two hours of climbing, rescuers located the skier, loaded her onto a sled and slowly took her down the mountain. The woman’s condition is currently unknown.
