The trail maintenance crew at Pontedilegno-Tonale Resort use a white reflective tarp designed to preserve snow on the melting Presena Glacier in Northern Italy.
Each strip is 5 meters wide and 70 meters long. They can preserve up to 70% of the snow below. Resorts across Europe use this ‘snow farming’ method to reduce the need for snowmaking at the beginning of the season.
