Boyne Resorts is going all-in with the high speed detachable 8-packs at their resorts across North America.
They made history by installing the Ramcharger 8 at Big Sky, MT a couple of seasons ago, they debuted the Kanc 8 at Loon, NH this season, and will open the Disciples 8 at Boyne Mountain, MI next year.
The resort shared a quick video showing that the Disciples Ridge and Disciples II chairs are being torn down in preparation for Disciples 8.
Out with the old. In with the new. Construction has begun on the first 8-place chairlift in the Midwest! #Disciples8 pic.twitter.com/99oku7I5fd

I don’t want to rain on Boyne’s spending parade, but why in the hell are they building an 8-pack chairlift at a hill in the Midwest?
Boyne only has 500′ of vertical and 415 acres of terrain. I can foresee problems with loading a full lift line of 8-person chairs on a weekend, anybody else…?
Sounds like an over-crowded skiing nightmare on the trails waiting to happen. I hope I’m wrong. I really do. I just can’t wrap my head around a ski resort this size needing such a hefty chairlift… It just doesn’t make sense.
