WATCH: Behind the Scenes of Deer Valleys Grooming Operations

I got to experience more of the powder scene on Wednesday at Deer Valley, but the Utah ski resort is mostly known for its groomers. It’s been ranked #1 in North America for many years by Ski Magazine, including in their 2022 reader survey. Last week, Deer Valley released a video describing how their grooming team operates. Sixteen groomers run two shifts per night to mow the moguls and ruts. Their groomers consist of eleven free groomers that operate without cables, three winch cats that have cables that help groomers when the terrain is steep, icy, or uneven, and two work cats that are used for helping out other working crews on the mountain rather than groomers. The video is below and click here to read a more detailed breakdown of Deer Valley’s grooming operations.
