Buttermilk Mountain to Redevelop Base Area This Offseason

We’re going to greatly improve Bumps. We’re going to greatly improve the rental, ticketing shop experience.” Mike Kaplan, Skico President, and CEO.

The base of Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen is getting a massive facelift. The Aspen Times reports that Aspen Snowmass will be spending $23 million on new and remodeled facilities at the mountain this summer. The Green Building, which is an old lodge that housed their rental department, will be replaced with a one-story building that will feature “the ticket office, ski, and snowboard rentals, ski school, public bathrooms, and a large lobby.” The building will be 100% electric, helping Aspen/Snowmass obtain its environmental goals through renewable energy sources.

In terms of the Bumps building, the current ticket office that’s placed there will be placed at the Green Building being constructed this offseason. The stairs inside the Bumps building will be moved outside to expand the space, as Buttermilk plans to expand the building by 2300 square feet. Another part of Buttermilk’s master plan, a lift that will service their renowned terrain parks and Superpipe that hosts the X-Games, will not be constructed this summer.

The new project follows the news of Aspen Mountain’s recently approved Pandora’s expansion, which will make its debut in the 2023-24 season. The new 153-acre expansion will feature a high-speed chairlift and intermediate and advanced terrain.https://www.funkyfairyspapercrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/buttermilk-mountain-to-redevelop-base-area-this-offseason-1.jpg
