The Northwest Avalanche Center (NWAC) is warning backcountry skiers and riders about the significant risk for avalanches across the region.

The NWCA has issued HIGH (4 out of 5) Avalanche Warnings in 8 of 10 zones it forecasts. It is not safe to be skiing or riding in avalanche terrain.

Please stay safe out there, friends.

“Very dangerous avalanche conditions exist near and above treeline as heavy rain saturates previously dry snow. Avoid all avalanche terrain where a wet avalanche can start, stop, or run.  In some cases, avalanches initiated at upper elevations could descend into below treeline terrain.” – Robert Hahn
