The Brit has taken his second World Cup podium of the season after his historic win in Kitzbühel in January. He came from 19th after the first run. NEW
It was second men’s slalom race in two days in the German resort of Garmisch Partenkirchen.
They were the first races since the Beijing Olympics at which Ryding was 13th.
On Saturday, Ryding finished in 20th place.
It wasn’t looking like a podium was on the cards when he finished 19th after the first run.
But on a course set by his coach, Tristan Glasse-Davies, Ryding flew.
All the faster skiers bar one from the first run then failed to beat his second run time or failed to finish.
The Norwegian, Henrik Kristoffersen was the one to pip Ryding and take the top spot.
Linus Strasser of Germany was 3rd.
It’s another stunning performance and gives him his second World Cup podium of the season.
The GB former racer Konrad Bartelski was one of the first to congratulate him on social media.
We’ll bring you more reaction to the news later so do check back.
