Northern California and Nevada Gets Much Needed Powder Day

California got some classic champagne powder to start out the week. This follows over a month of dry conditions, which ironically followed a historic storm that hit California near the end of December and early January. The snow fell on Monday and Tuesday. While it’s not the blockbuster storm that California often sees, I imagine locals were stoked to ski some light snow for once, especially after a long dry period. Here are the major totals from the storm in California:

  • Kirkwood: 21 inches.
  • Heavenly: 20 inches.
  • Northstar: 20 inches.
  • Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe: 16-20 inches.
  • Sugar Bowl: 18 inches.
  • Bear Valley: 17 inches.
  • Boreal: 16 inches.
  • Homewood: 15inches.
  • Palisades Tahoe: 13-17 inches
  • Dodge Ridge: 10-16inches.
  • Snow Valley: 8-10 inches.
  • China Peak: 5-8 inches.
  • Mammoth Mountain: 5-6 inches.
